Well, first I suggest that he hand over the title to his son (if we're doing Stephen Hatt, then it'd be Richard). Then, he could die peacefully one night.

There's a huge railway show coming up... I'd prefer retirement to death, but having VEC attack the railway show has potential to be an interesting arc that brings all the major groups together and can lead to his demise. I guess I'm fine with it.

Yes, let's get through the steam festival first.
You know, first we'll do a while of just the steam festival, then at some point the VEC attacks, which brings the Colormen to the rescue. The engines and tugs help out in some way, while the numbered diesels... Will be lead by D-11 to do something heroic to show that they can be a force for good (recall: after certain events of the late 80s early 90s, few trust the numbered diesels, technically it is illegal for them to still be running)
In short, the Colormen primarily fight the VEC, but the engines and tugs help. And the numbered diesels do something that the public doesn't hate them anymore.
How's that?

That sounds fine, Frank.
Now, going back to the Fat Controller, I suggest that on the last day of the Steam Festival, he hands over the role of the Fat Controller to his son, Richard, and a few day later, dies peacefully. This could start off a chain of reminiscences of his life, and how Richard deals with becoming the new Fat Controller.
Thoughts?

Well, he shouldn't "just die", there has to be some sort of set up. Hold on, I have an idea; let me know what you think.

Well, I think the idea of him realizing that he's quite old and thus hands over the reins to Richard, and then dying peacefully one night would be fine โ perhaps a bit of things with his grandchildren the day before he dies would be fine โ but I wouldn't want him to die of sickness or anything like that.

Oh... I actually posted before I read that; I'll fix it if you don't like it.

Hmm, that's different... but we'll see where it goes!

It has been brought to my attention that not everyone is for this route. Toz is not for this storyline, so we will have to put an end to it.
But we do have to admit; Stephen Topham Hatt is 74, and probably deserves to retire. Toz, are you ok with him just retiring?

I myself would rather him just retire, personally.

Retirement is fine by me. EDIT: Thought this was the game, LOL.

Just wanted to let you all know ahead of time; Man IN Egyptian Blue will pass on after the battle's conclusion and pass on his powers.
If anyone wants to bring up something before I officially put it into the canon, please let me know so I do not make any mistakes.

I've started the mini-arc for MIEB's passing; just want to give a heads up for everyone so no one is caught off-guard by it.

Say, Frank, one thought I had would be this โ what if Man In Egyptian Blue dies... and then comes back to life? Not as a Colorman (that's his son now), but he will be able to have some peace in 'retirement', if you will. What do you think?

Well, he is 96 now; how much more does he have left in him?

Well, he is 96 now; how much more does he have left in him? Hmm... good point. Then again, we could have him become the world record for oldest man (alive, of course).

Possibly; let's see how the story plays out for the next few posts. Tug, Toz, TGC, what are your thoughts?

I'm fine with whatever, but since it's your subplot, I think you should have final say...

Good point; I just want to make sure I am not going to upset anyone. For now, it's just going to be an exchange of words between father and son, and the power is passed on.

I say he's fulfilled his role, narratively speaking. A new, younger MIEB would be great. Plus, he won't be gone, he'll still be a Colorman Ancestor.
