Stein's search for one of the Serial Killers takes a weird turn when he discovers something that turns the case upside down (ideas tug?) Well, "weird" could refer to the Weird Sisters from Macbeth, who were witches... could this become a witch hunt?

Scene for the Marlena case in the rape arc:
"I'm sorry Marlena, but I cannot allow it; Detective Hollis will be working this case, and that's my decision" Commissioner Turner said as explained the situation to her.
"But sir; this victim is a dear friend of mine; I cannot sit by while her rapist is out there; it could be Johnston or Sandoval for all we know!" Marlena insisted.
"And that is precisely why I cannot let you work this case; you're too close to the victim, it will interfere with your judgement. Not to mention I do not feel someone like yourself could possibly think objectively concerning a case like this" Turner explained.
"But sir..." Marlena began.
"Marlena Gent, as commissioner of Scotland Yard, I forbid you from working this case, is that clear" Commissioner Turner said sternly.
"...yes sir" Marlena relented. "Then what case should I work on?" She asked.
Commissioner Turner looked through the files he kept on hand. After consideration, he pulled one out and gave it to her. Marlena looked it over and was underwhelmed. "The Jay Roberts case, sir?" She asked.
"Yes; about time that vandal be brought to justice. Now get to Greenwich, Detective Gent; he isn't going to catch himself after all" Commissioner Turner ordered.
"Understood, sir" Marlena sighed as she left his office. After making some preparations, she proceeded to head outside to get to her car and make her way to Greenwich. On her way out, she passed by Detective Hollis' desk; he was hard at work on the rape case Marlena felt belonged to her. She walked up to him.
"Detective Hollis..." Marlena began.
"Yes?" Hollis said, looking up. Marlena had a few choice words for him... but ultimately decided to keep her feelings to herself.
"...just wanted to wish you lock on this case; the victim is a dear friend of mine and I do want to see the perpetrator brought to justice" she said.
"Don't worry; I will do everything I can to find this criminal and take him down" Hollis assured. Marlena nodded before leaving Scotland Yard, heading to her car, and making her way to Greenwich. The whole way though, she found herself thinking about her friend, and not the Jay Roberts case. It made her blood boil, knowing there was nothing she could do. "I should be on this case... not chasing some needle in a haystack" she grumbled as she continued driving, forced to work a case that she had no real interest in solving.

Fate of Blade syndicate members-
Fowler- dead
Blade, Muller and Byrne- escape, not on plane
Elvira and Ruocco- escape on plane
Kross- surrenders
Friend- killed by mob
Who's left: Wilcox, Palepu, McKibbin, Cambria, Knowles
Three get on the plane; other two captured by Ripper underground
(What two did we agree on? I believe it was McKibbin and knowles, but let's double check)

McKibbin and Knowles get captured, yes. At present, Mckibbin has a broken leg and Knowles is carrying Ephedra to the plane, IIRC

So I was doing some research and came across something rather interesting- the Scotland Yard hierarchy.
So it turns out there isn't a clear cut "detective" rank, but rather, from low to high:
Detective Constable
Detective Sergeant
Detective Inspector
Detective Chief Inspector
Detective Superindentant
Detective Chief Superintendent
Furthermore, detectives don't necessarily rank higher than officers; but rather have equivalent ranks, which are:
Police Constable
Police Sergeant
Police Inspector
Chief Inspector
Superintendent
Chief Superintendent
Then, above the superintendents is the:
Commander
Deputy Assistant Commissioner
Assistant Commissioner
Deputy Commissioner
Commissioner (this is Gent's rank)
.........
This should help out a lot now; I was planning on doing some promotions coming up soon, so this is really useful.

Btw eyes- when we transpose/edit LM 13; we're going to have to adjust the length of time Cricket was in a coma to several months.
Remember- this book takes place over the course of several months, and Cricket being in a coma was the reason Hartley wasn't around during this time

I guess we should fix all the named officers' ranks then

Remember- this book takes place over the course of several months, and Cricket being in a coma was the reason Hartley wasn't around during this time Hartley was also worried about his wife not getting hurt. Thus it makes sense even if it's shortened. They're also newlyweds so I mean, Watson and Hastings didn't want to stick around 24/7 with Holmes and Poirot as well.

Cricket's page is up on the LM wiki;' wasn't easy since there is little on her, but at least it's not a stub

Knowles and McKibbin were dragged to an area about half a kilometer from the mine, to several parked trucks and cars. Then from one truck, a rather intimidating man emerged, who commanded the respect of all present.
Lord Bury had come in person. "Well done, my loyal subjects. All involved shall be handsomely rewarded!" He declared, to the sound of cheers.
"What are you going to do with us?" Knowles asked, now scared of the man before him.
"Whatever I want..." Lord Bury grinned. Then, he walked towards the two, and thought it over. "I want to send Blade a message" he decided. "But, just killing you two doesn't justify the effort that went into what happened here today. So... I'm going to let one of you go free, provided you deliver a message to Blade on my behalf" Lord Bury explained.
"And the other?" McKibbin asked.
"The other... shall have his body dragged back to Blade by the one who lives!" Bury said with a grin. McKibbin and Knowles were shocked with what they just heard. Then, Lord Bury took out... a coin.
"Listen very carefully. I am about to flip this coin. If it lands on heads, you will pick which one of you lives" Lord Bury said, pointing to Knowles. "And if it lands on tails... you will decides which one of you dies" Lord Bury said, indicating McKibbin
"This is insane! Life isn't just something you can make a game out of! What gives you the right!" Knowles shouted. But it was too late. Lord Bury flipped the.coin, and it landed a few seconds later.
"Now, let's see what it landed on" Lord Bury said as everyone looked at the coin...

In case you didn't see my message last night Toz- here is some clarification on that scene:
This scene is meant to show just how serious a villain Lord Bury is, since he never really had a chance to shine properly in LM 8. The fact that McKibbin's leg is broken is something Bury is fully aware of, and is part of the reasoning behind why he chose this fate.
As for why the scene ended like this- since they are your characters, strictly speaking I have no right to kill them. As a matter of respect for that fact, I am letting you chose their final fate; if one or both survives, up to you, since they are your characters.

Ok, so for Gent's family- I don't want to jump the gun, so let's actually decide how big his family is before going into this
So in 1943, Gent is 45. If his parents are in their late 70s, they could still be alive. So... Howard and Olivia Gent, perhaps?
Marlena Gent is alive, so that's a given. Though I think she may be an only child
We never said his wife was alive, but we never said she was dead either. So if she is alive... Angela Gent, perhaps?
I don't see Gent as being an only child, so he probably has a brother and sister... Brittany and William, perhaps? They probably have families too, but let's not jump the gun.
How's that for a start?

Yeah that'll be good. I suggest we give him a wife in this story but I feel like he doesn't have one within LM as it is now... possibly death due to illness?
And like I said in the thread itself, the family get-together of Gent's is important to the story, but it's not actually Gent's family with the messed-up reunion. We're just setting up their importance for now.

All right, so when all' said and done- come LM 18, Blade will be appearing with just Byrne and Muller then?
(If I have everything straightened out with the fates of the Syndicate members)
