The 3WSR Railway Series is coming along nicely, and already is looking pretty good. With the completion of yesterday's book, Talyllyn and Dolgoch on Sodor, we now have put the 48th book in the library. Soon, there will be the 50th book to make....and that's where you come in! I'm holding a contest here for the spot of the 50th book in the Railway Series. The best submission will end up becoming the 50th book. Here's what you have to do: 1. PM me with your idea. I need: Title of book Summary of book Titles of chapters/stories in it Summaries of the chapters Characters in book 2. I will look through them and tell you if it will work or not. Of course, I won't tell you if you lost or won yet, so as to keep the surprise. 3. The winner has three options: Write the book by him/herself, write it with me, or have me write it with their suggestions. You'll have plenty of time to submit your entry. Enjoy!

Your book proposal should be structured as such:
Title: Engines to the Rescue
Summary: Dear Friends,
A terrible storm has recently caused a lot of damage on the Island of Sodor. Thankfully, most of the railways were not harmed, but there was a lot of cleaning up to do. These are those stories.
Titles/Summaries:
That Sinking Feeling: James is told to travel along a certain part of the line in order to avoid a stretch of track that has been deemed dangerous, for once he agrees so he won't get his paint dirty. But a broken set of points forces James down a track where the rain had turned the trackbed into mud, and the tracks can't support a James weight... Starring: James, supporting characters TBD
Toby and the Flood: Adaption of the episode of the same name, with slight alterations (mainly to make it more RWS-like) Starring: Toby, Percy, Harold
Oil spill: the storm has damaged some oil wagons, and they start leaking. With so many people taking shelter, no one notices. When Henry comes through with a train (passenger or freight, TBD) and tries to stop, the now slippery rails he can't grip... He has only seconds to think before there's an accident, can he prevent himself from derailing? Starring; Henry
Scotland Strong (NOTE: Working title, not final title): supplies from the mainland are desperately needed to help Sodor with the clean up and reconstruction. But when the two diesels taking the supplies train get into s spot of trouble, and there are no other engines available, it's up to Donald and Douglas to save the day and get the supplies to where they are needed
Starring: Donald and Douglas, with a cameo appearance by D261 and D199
Other characters: TBD (note: TBD= to be determined)

He announces Henry as leading engine in taking the main train to the celebration. This leads to some resentment of the bigger engines, but it eventually subsides, in all but one engine... Gordon Starring: Henry, Gordon, (Supporting Cast TBD).
Under Pressure: While getting ready for the celebration, Gordon steam value cracks while pulling visitors who came for the celebration. Gordon is sent to the Works, and James even mocks him calling him as old as Edward. Since no other engine is available, James has to take over for Gordon. They're great stories, but let's not forget one thing: it's not the railway that has turned 70, it is the thin Clergyman's books that have turned 70.
(they still sound like great stories)

Maybe, but we're already advertising left and right; I doubt that it would draw more people in.

Railway Series 50: Railway Centenary
Dear Friends, Earlier this year, the North Western Railway celebrated its 100th anniversary. It was quite hectic, but things worked out well in the end. Although I don't think James has gotten over his little "incident" just yet...
The Special Train Sir Topham Hatt announces that there will be a week of festivities at Tidmouth Yard to celebrate 100 years of the North Western Railway. He needs someone to pull a special train of guests to the yard from Cronk every day during the festivities. Gordon is sure it will be him, because "any job besides Special Trains and Expresses is beneath me". But when a delivery of oil tankers goes out, Gordon is the only engine available, and gets his pride taken down a notch.
Featuring Gordon, Henry, STH, possibly Edward, Bear, James, Duck and the Scottish Twins
Pegasus Since Tidmouth Yard is being used for the festivities, Vicarstown yard has been reopened, and a Diesel Shunter named Pegasus (nicknamed "Peg" has been brought in to help. Peg mocks the NWR for using weak, outdated steam engines, and to prove her point, she adds extra trucks to Henry's train to make it too heavy. Henry ends up finishing early in spite of the empty trucks, and everyone calls him an "iron pegasus", much to Peg's embarrassment!
Featuring Henry, Peg, the Scottish Twins, Gordon
Shotgun (based on a true story) A group of kids have begun hanging around Tidmouth Yard to watch people set up the festivities, but Duck's crew soon realize that they are also stealing supplies. A workman soon comes up with a clever way to get rid of the kids... he mimes shooting at them (although his "gun" is actually a broom), while Duck runs over some detonater caps to provide sound!
Featuring Duck, Percy??
James gets Thomasified James is frustrated to see that Thomas is on most of the decorations. Thomas explains that he is the most popular engine, and James is just jealous. On opening day of the celebration, as James takes a train of passengers to the yard, a truck carrying merchandise for the event tips over on a bridge, and James arrives at the celebration covered in nearly 100 toy Thomas's! Aside from this incident, the fair is a smashing success, and even Peg can't help but enjoy herself.
Featuring James, Thomas, Henry, Gordon, Edward, Percy, Toby, Oliver, Daisy, the "Midnight Goods" diesels, The Works Diesel, Peg
I would like to work with somebody on these stories.
