The development these past several days had been straight up chaotic, and this made the problem even worse
......
(A couple days previously)
In a park, two men met on a bench.
"So, One-Eye and the iceberg are dead? Shame; I would have preferred to have done it myself" Volcano Al said, lighting a cigarette.
"I must admit though, whoever is doing this just saved us a lot of trouble; less competition, you know" Butcher Hall pointed out.
They sat for a minute before cutting to the chase.
"of course, now this means there will be more business available for the taking; though in light of what is happening perhaps a truce is in order" Volcano Al explained.
"Quite; I never was one for complicated arrangements, so let's keep it simple- as long as business is good for the both of us, I see no need to interfere with each other's business" Butcher Hall explained.
"Sounds fair to me; Guess the Dirty Four is the Dirty Two now" Volcano Al observed.
They sat on the bench for a little while longer before leaving to go back to their illegal money lending.

But now, Butcher Hall was alone.
The Dirty Four was now the Dirty One.
He shivered.
Someone was trying to kill them.
And as far as he could see it, he was next.
Suddenly he sprang out of his chair.
"CURSE YOU MISERABLE FIEND! YOU CANNOT KILL ME! I WILL TAKE YOU DOWN, BUT NEVER SHALL YOU LAY A FINGER UPON ME YOU ANGEL OF DEATH!!"

Gunnarson had returned home when his phone started ringing
"Gent; what is it? Volcano Al dead?!" Gunnarson asked, shocked.
"Yes; the crime scene is too hazardous for you though Gunnarson; I can't allow you to go there; only the arson detectives can go, I'm afraid. It's the law"
"I understand Gent. Anything else you need me to know?"
"Yea; we caught Ronald Wright's killers, so that case is closed, at least" Gent explained.
......
After the Phone call, Gent called in the assembled detectives and officers into a meeting to explain the situation.
"In the last week, three of the four illegal money lenders in London have fallen dead. One-Eyed Jack, Volcano Al and Henry the Iceberg, all dead. We don't know who is doing this, but we do know that he seems to be targeting the Dirty Four specifically. This killer is targeting the illegal money lenders, brokers, loan sharks, whatever you want to call them. Now, that may seem like a good, but he's a killer nonetheless and must be brought to justice" Gent explained.
"What do we know so far?" One officer asked.

"Well for starters, he's killing these guys based on their nicknames. Consider - One-Eyed Jack was shot in the eye, Henry the Iceberg was frozen to death, and Volcano Al was killed in a fire. This guy is eliminating them in an interesting way. If Butcher Hall were to die, I believe we would find him chopped up. But of course, perhaps Butcher Hall is the killer here..."

"Doubt it sir; it doesn't fit his style" one detective said.
"Yea, Butcher Hall does it brutal, and he makes his people suffer. A single shot to the eye; that's not Butcher Hall's style; he would want Jack to suffer before killing him" another explained.
"True. We need to consider all possibilities until ruled out though, so be sure to keep an eye on him" Gent explained.
"But why target the illegal money lenders? It's not exactly the most illustrious criminal job and there are easier "markets" to get into" another detective pointed out.

"I have no clue. We have several people working on this case, even my good friend Adolf Gunnarson, and we all seem to be stumped..."
---------
But Gunnarson wasn't stumped.

"I have some ideas... if I could just find the evidence to back them up, I can solve this case once and for all" he thought to himself. But it was a long shot, and he knew it. So after some thinking, he came to realize "perhaps it's time I turn my attention to Dr. Drugg... after all, Wright's killers were caught." he considered. "Though what should I consider before making that decision..." he followed with.

He sat down on his chair and pondered.
----------
"Oh Hartley, how unsuspecting you are," The Man thought. "You will fall into my trap soon enough... and then I shall have to destroy you... what fun..."
---------
Across the street, I was still talking to Cricket.

She was telling me more about her life story, but she still wouldn't tell me why she was called Cricket for some reason.
......
Elvira was having it rough. Four years of living in Broadmoor mental hospital had taken its toll on her. Due to lack of physical activity over the 4 years, she had suffered from what doctors call "atrophy" so she had become slower and weaker. The testing and "therapy" she endured also had broken her mind in some ways, although no longer driven insane, she still was haunted by survivors guilt over the Caledonia sinking, and that confidence that made her felt like she could take on anything...it just wasn't there anymore.
So at the pub, while the Mobsters and Blade's gang celebrated, she sort of sat in a corner, not really talking to anyone, and not sure who to trust.
(NOTE: four years in a mental hospital would take its toll on someone; so the Elvira we see at this point, shouldn't be the same Elvira we Saw in LM 2 for the time being)

"So, you were born in an aristocratic family and you've had a good life. How about that nickname of 'Cricket' though?"
"Well that comes from my middle name of Catherine. Cricket is sometimes used like Bob is to Robert and somehow or other I ended up being called Cricket."
"Ah! It is a nice name after all."

"Why you!" And she slapped me. I probably deserved it.
Meanwhile...

In the Black Scorpion hideout, Wallace was pacing, utterly frustrated with the situation.
"How are we supposed to get any money to get us going again when all of the brokers are dropping dead in this city?! I would've preferred working with the iceberg, but looks like we got no choice... If we're going to make any progress, we're going to have to deal with Butcher Hall" the last lieutenant concluded.
One of his men came running up to him "it's bad sir; Cody's dead! The Irish mob got him"
"What?! Damn it all, now there's only four of us! And one of us is out cold!" Wallace screamed in frustration.
"In hindsight, I'm starting to question if it was worth freeing this doctor in the first place- he's been locked away for four years and none of us ever heard of him until recently; what the big deal sir?" The other man asked.
"Jeremy, prior to being locked up Dr Drugg was a valuable asset to the Black Scorpion- his cocktails helped us get away with a lot of our activities" Wallace explained.
"I still don't get why we didn't free one of the bosses instead of sleeping beauty here" Jeremy pointed out.
"Compared to the prison our bosses are in, breaking Drugg out of that prison was easier" Wallace explained.
"What now?" Jeremy asked.

Meanwhile, Gent was at his desk.
He had fallen asleep.
Suddenly the phone rang.
He jumped up and grabbed the receiver.
"Hello? Yes? You do? Right, I'll be waiting."
He sat down again. "So Gunnarson's found a clue..."

A little while later, Gunnarson arrived at Scotland Yard.
"What did you find?" Gent asked.
"Something that should be able to get this case moving along" he said as he took it out.
"What I've found is..."

And he held up a small black object.
"What is that?" Gent said, surprised, "and how in hell can that help this case?"
"This, my friend, is..."

"...the key to determining our next lead" he explained.
"How so?" Gent asked.
"It's very simple; if I hold it like this, what you'll see is that these markings are indicative of..."

Gent looked close. "Is that a... scorpion?"
"It is faint, but it is there. I found this..."

"...message as well; take a look" Gunnarson offered.
Gent just barely made out the message "the scorpion stings again... what does that mean? For that matter, where did you find this?" Gent asked
"Oh, I found it..."

"I see. Hmm..."

"Are you suggesting The Black Scorpion was present at the warehouse?" Gent asked.
"Not likely; but I have seen trinkets like this at past crimes of theirs; its something of a calling card for them. If I had to take an educated guess, they are resuming operations, but in a severely reduced capacity" Gunnarson concluded.
"So what does that mean the next move is?" Gent asked.
"Straightforward, we simply..."
