200. Mother Love Bone - “Crown of Thorns”
It’s hard to imagine the influence of Mother Love Bone in the post-Nirvana world, but the ripples of Andrew Wood and his death can still be heard on radio today, from classics by Alice in Chains and Candlebox to the entire Temple of the Dog album assembled by Chris Cornell and the future Pearl Jam members. But the band itself had some game-changing music in spite of the fact that they only ever released one album. On their debut EP, this longer track was combined with “Chloe Dancer”, but on Apple it closes the record by itself. Regardless, this is a classic of the genre that still holds up today.
