The All-Time Anti War Songs 101Everyone hates war (well, except the politicians who start the damn wars and then leave it for the working man to fight them). Musicians are very outspoken on their beliefs on war. There are tons and tons of anti war songs, but these are the 101 greatest of all time. Whether touching on war in general, specific battles, or just advocating peace, these songs are the ones that make their message clear for all to hear. (Thanks to Toz76 BTW for some great suggestions.) Let's begin this countdown with a beautiful and timeless song by Joni Mitchell. 101 | Joni Mitchell โข Woodstock

It took a while before he could get this song released, but once he did it turned hip hop upside down and became one of his most popular songs. Best part? The message was great. 99 | Kanye West โข Jesus Walks

Coming out during the height of the Cold War, German band Accept were more political than ever before on their album Balls to the Wall. On the title track they called out to the Communist leaders and warned them that their people would rise up against them if they didn't change their ways. 92 | Accept โข Balls To The Wall

According to songwriter Bernie Taupin, this song was the most misunderstood song he ever wrote. It's about a man who comes home from war, is made a hero by his town, but just wants to go back to his life. It's a touching song and had to make the list. 91 | Elton John โข Daniel

This song is mainly remembered today as one of the songs that inspired Lynyrd Skynyrd's much bigger "Sweet Home Alabama", and hell, even Neil Young himself prefers it. But don't overlook it - it's a pretty good song. 87 | Neil Young โข Southern Man
