#27: Joaquรญn "El Chapo" GuzmรกnThere have been plenty of drug lords that could fill up a whole list to themselves, but one in recent memory that deserves a mention is El Chapo. This guy is rich, powerful, the godfather of the drug world, and public enemy number one for a reason. After an arrest in 2014, he had his henchmen build a f*cking tunnel to get out of jail, in one of the most amazing prison breaks in history. He has been arrested again, but who knows how long it will be before this kingpin actually gets settled in jail.

26) Pope Alexander VIAnother Pope on this list? Unfortunately yes. Despite being one of the most powerful men in Europe, Rodrigo Borgia did a lot of acts that were rather... well, not very Pope-like. He admitted to having many children through mistresses and appointed relatives to powerful positions. To this day, his last name, Borgia, is synonymous with nepotism and libertinism (don't ask)

#25: Henry VIIIHe was one of the most important kings in world history... but that doesn't make him any less infamous. Henry VIII is well-known for his marriages. His first marriage, which was not a success, ended up making him separate England from papal authority to get a divorce, he beheaded his second wife, Anne Boleyn, and really, anyone who disagreed with him was fair game for an execution. Not a great king, but nevertheless an important one, if still rather infamous.

24) Talaat Pasha
Grand Vizier for the Ottoman Empire, he was responsible for the Armenian Genocide; the execution of 1.5 million Armenians, with his ultimate goal being to wipe out the Armenian race. Under his order, Armenians were clubbed, raped, beaten, tortured, whipped and other terrible things. The hammer of justice fell hard on him though, when he was assassinated in 1921 by an Armenian... who was found not guilty in court due to "temporary insanity" caused by what was experienced during the genocide

#23: Mary, Queen of ScotsA controversial figure if ever there was one. The queen of Scotland was a bundle of dishonesty, cold-heartedness, and good looks. She was unfit as the ruler of her land, her husband was found murdered after his house exploded (possibly she was in on the plot), her people rose up against her, she fled to England, was imprisoned, and finally beheaded after being found guilty of plotting to assassinate her cousin Elizabeth, who only gave the order as it was for the best of the country. She personally felt it was the wrong thing to do, but what else could someone do with a woman like Mary?

22) DracoAn Athenian lawmaker, he replaced the oral law of Athens with a written code that was enforced through a court system. However, people were unaware of the harshness his laws would entail. Such was his harshness with punishment by law that to this day "draconian" has become an adjective that refers to harsh and unforgiving laws

#21: CaligulaWas Caligula one of the most evil men in history, or were stories about him heavily dramatized? We may never know for sure, but either way he's still an infamous figure. According to reports, he made his horse a consul member, had sex with his sisters, and worse. He was eventually assassinated, but his legacy lives on.

20) Richard NixonAlthough he made some important contributions during his time as president, Richard Nixon will forever be remembered for the Wategate Scandal, and ultimately destroying the popular image of the American President as a man who can do no wrong.

#19: King JohnOh, the world will sing of an English King A thousand years from now And not because he passed some laws Or had that lofty brow
While bonny good King Richard leads The great crusade he's on We'll all have to slave away For that good-for-nothin' John!
Incredible as he is inept Whenever the history books are kept They'll call him the phony king of England A pox on the phony king of England!
He sits alone on a giant throne Pretendin' he's the king A little tyke who's rather like A puppet on a string
And he throws an angry tantrum If he cannot have his way And then he calls for Mum While he's suckin' his thumb You see, he doesn't want to play
Too late to be known as John the First He's sure to be known as John the worst A pox on that phony king of England! Lay that country on me, babe!
While he taxes us to pieces And he robs us of our bread King Richard's crown keeps slippin' down Around that pointed head
But while there is a merry man In Robin's wily pack We'll find a way to make him pay And steal our money back
A minute before he knows we're there Ol' Rob will snatch his underwear The breezy and uneasy king of England The snivellin', grovellin' Measly, weasely Blabberin', jabberin' Gibberin', jabberin' Blunderin', plunderin' Wheelin', dealin' Prince John, that phony king of England

#17: Jeffrey DahmerJeffrey Dahmer is one of the most infamous serial killers in history. This man killed young men between 1978 and 1991, and committed acts of necrophilia, cannibalism, preservation of body parts, you get the picture. After his capture, he was diagnosed with several mental disorders, but found legally sane at his trial. In 1994, he was beaten to death by a fellow inmate. A fitting death for a terrible psychopath.

16) Leopold II of BelgiumThe King of Belgium from 1865 to 1909, he also ruled over the Congo Free State in Africa, where he was a bloody tyrant. Ruling through forced labor, millions would end up raped, maimed, executed, had body parts cut off, and were tortured if they did not get enough rubber. Even worse, he deceived the rest of the world into believing he was a good ruler of the Congo and that all was well. His terror regime... was simply born out of the desire to make more money

#15: Mary I of EnglandMary I came to the throne at a time when England was becoming more and more of a Protestant country. A staunch Catholic, she tried to turn the country around using force, and thus executed anyone who would not turn from their ways and follow her religion. She reigned for only five years but executed nearly 300 people, thus earning the nickname "Bloody Mary".

14) Maximilien RobespierreOne of the most infamous figures of the French Revolution, despite his support for the revolution he had an overwhelming tendency to execute anyone and everyone who did not agree with him and the Jacobins. Thus, he sentenced thousands to the guillotine, often without trial. He is the very symbol of the period of the French Revolution known as the Reign of Terror. Ironically, the Reign of Terror would end when he himself was executed by guillotine.

#13: Idi AminIdi Amin was initially pro-western, but then he went over to the *cough* dark side. Overthrowing the president, he became "His Excellency President for Life, Field Marshal Alhaji Dr. Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, CBE", a ruthless ruler whose reign was characterized by " human rights abuses, political repression, ethnic persecution, extrajudicial killings, nepotism, corruption, and gross economic mismanagement". Between 100,000 to 500,000 people were killed as a result.

12) Heinrich HimmlerAs head of the SS he was the second most powerful Nazi in WWII Germany. He more than anyone encouraged Hitler to implement the Final Solution and also created programs that lead to the deaths of 6-7 million people. There are even rumors that he had furniture and books made from the skin and bones of Jews killed in the Holocaust. Before he could be brought to trial, Himmler committed suicide by poison.

#11: NeroThought Caligula was bad, did you? Nero was notorious in history for his deeds, especially his treatment of Christians during his reign. After a fire burned down most of Rome, he blamed said Christians and tried to purge them from the country. Any claim for infamy was the fact that he had his own mother murdered. When it seemed his life was in danger, he committed suicide. Nero truly was a despicable person.

- Kim Il Sung
- Ayatollah Komeni
- Hirohito
- Benito Musselini
- Jim Jones
- Rasputin
- Francisco Pizarro
- Ilse Koch
And now ladies and gentlemen, the Top 10...

10) Genghis Khan
This 13th Century Warlord killed millions of people, destroyed entire cities, and went on to impact world history as we know it. Though he has a legacy of being a vicious barbarian, why is he not higher on this list, you ask? After all, he did wage an unstoppable conquest across Eurasia
Because surprisingly, a lot of his unsung actions were rather good, and he also paved the way for the modern world to come to be. Don't believe me? Hear out both sides of the argument and decide for yourself:

#9: Ed GeinWhen it comes to murderers, few are as infamous as Ed Gein. He may only have killed two people, but Gein was insane, digging up graves to make keepsakes and clothes out of their skin. What makes him so legendary is that he has actually inspired several horror film villains, such as Norman Bates from Psycho, Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs, and Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
