"I... don't believe that the evidence has been substantial to prove any sort of conspiracy has taken place. And though it is unfortunate that Mr. Everly's testimony was strikes down, I maintain that Taylor may have had other motives. In addition, I want you all to consider...

...the possibility that Taylor was used, instead of it being his own free will that made him kill them." "What are you saying?" asked Mason.

"Mr Mason, do not interrupt Mr Gunnarson"
"My apologies your honor"
"You were saying Mr Gunnarson?"
"I'm saying that..."

(Sorry guys, did not mean to stump anyone; I'll finish it up)
"Wait, Mr. Gunnarson, you are aware you cannot introduce new evidence in your closing argument, correct?" the judge asked.
"Oh, of course, sorry your honor. Anyway, the short of it is, I do not think there is substantial evidence for a guilty conviction, and while I may make some mistakes, so does everyone else." Gunnarson went to wrap up.
With the closing arguments finished, the jury went to deliberate. Immediately, nine men were clear on the choice.
"That damn Swede is guilty! Send him to prison!" One said as eight nodded in agreement. Two were somewhat hesitant, "But he is a good man, should we really sent him to prison?"
"You heard the prosecutor, can we really trust a Swede?" One said. Only one was outspoken against a guilty verdict.
"No... I don't believe he is guilty!" He said.
"Of course he is!" The nine said together.

"Now hear me out," said the one man, as he stood up, and began a speech...

"I just don't believe that Gunnarson is that kind of man. I have read the papers, and yes, he has gotten several cases wrong, but at the same time, he does seem genuine about being determined to solve cases for good. He's like Holmes all those years ago."
"How can we trust him, he's Swedish!" One juror pointed out.

"I think we shouldn't be prejudiced in our views. I mean, if this was how every case went, then all the murderers from England would get off scot-free!"

"That's not the point! The question at hand is whether or not he did what Taylor charged him with, and put simply, while some charges he is not guilty of, the others he is, and we must judge accordingly" the juror argued.
"But he is a good man! We shouldn't punish him just because of his competence; incompetence isn't a crime!" the lone juror argued back.
"And yet he remains questionable at best. You heard Taylor, his credentials are nonexistent!" The "leader" of the group of nine argued.

"Yes, but... my point is, imagine if he were an Englishman, not a Swede. What would you decide then?"

"Well, we have to look at what the evidence says. Yes, some charges he's it guilty of, but the rest, if we look at the evidence, if we look at the facts, he is guilty of those other charges" he pointed out.
"I dont deny that his actions may have been questionable, but..." The lone juror began
"Exactly! That's why he must be found guilty!" The other shot back.
......
Meanwhile, Gent was coming under fire.
"So, you told Gunnarson he could not investigate the Everly hanging because of the way things were, so he didn't come. And yet, you knew he was under investigation and he was on trial right now- so why the sudden change of heart? The circumstances were exactly the same and yet you let Gunnarson look at Taylor's poisoning."

While Gent had to explain himself, around that time, Dr. Drugg was making some important phone calls.
"Hello?" The voice on the other end asked.
"It's Drugg. How'd the mob fair?" he asked.
"Six crates lost in the hold. 12 crates loaded onto boats, 7 crates, they managed to get the bulk of the contents out. So that's 19 crates total."
"How... unfortunate. My superiors would've preferred that the weapons went down with the Athenry. It suits our interests more."
"Yea well, in the end, 5 sailors and 7 mobsters drowned. All for some weapons, damn it." The voice said. "Now look, I've done my part, and I've told you everything I know, now let them go" he continued.
"I would love to McGrath... but unfortunately, I can't. You are still useful to me" Drugg explained.
"Whatever happened to do no harm!? Don't you damn doctors take a Hippocratic oath?" McGrath asked.
"But of course, and I am a man of my word- they are not harmed. They are simply, restrained to keep them from running" Drugg replied. "Now listen closely, you will keep informing me on the Irish mob and their activities, or they will simply disappear" Drugg said. In a cell-like room, a woman and three young children were locked up, huddled together and cowering in fear.
"Fine. But you'd better not harm them." McGrath said.
"Of course. Why, if they died, then I would have no leverage over you" Drugg pointed out.
"Damn you Drugg... fine, I'd better go- Finnegan and the boss will be back soon"
"Very well... goodbye McGrath." And the two hung up the phone.
McGrath looked out the window to see Finn and Ryan. "Believe me boss, I wouldn't betray you; but when he brought my family into this mess... damn it I feel so helpless!" And he knocked a table over in frustration.
Then Drugg called another number.
"The mob has pulled back to Ireland, but they managed to get a bit over half of the weapons. When we eventually get there, they may pose a bigger threat than we anticipated. Gunnarson? He's no military guy, but he does present a substantial threat to our espionage operations. The trial is almost up, the jury is deliberating. If he's guilty, he'll be thrown in prison and no longer a problem. Not guilty... it's not likely, but I do have a plan B. Yes, they are becoming aware of some of my actions, but only a handful have figured it out at this point, no word to the press just yet. Taylor and Everly? It worked perfectly. I drugged Taylor to visit the prison to taunt Everly, and I drugged Everly to hang himself once Taylor left... the rope I planted from the naval yard was easy to hide. Taylor had become a liability though... had to silence him with strychnine. Then I drugged the secretary to take the blame, and draw attention away from me concerning the Manning case. They think Manning was a lawyer at one point... the fools, he was always a doctor. Everly was also drugged for the testimony. He told the truth with regards to the Edwards case... but the Manning, Farley, Dawes cases... that was to discredit Taylor. Didn't work, so another reason to silence him. In the end, I think our activities were covered well. They are still no where near the group that killed Ms. Walters. Oh, you mean Blade and the remaining members of his cell? Got them in my pocket ever since I got Elvira. They completely trust me and suspect nothing. Ok, I need to go- I need to be present when the jury announces the verdict" Drugg said before hanging up.

Back to Gunnarson, a few hours passed by, and by now, the jury had finally finished debating their verdict, so now it was time for Gunnarson and his group to learn the Swedish Detective's fate...
"Gentlemen of Jury, what is your verdict?' asked the Judge
"Your Honor, we find the Defendant..."

"On charge one: negligent homicide: not guilty." The lead juror began. Taylor had managed to rack up 17 charges of various crimes against Gunnarson, for varying sentences and severity. On most, it was not guilty, because the jurors didn't think much of them, and it wasn't worth their time.
But then came the big one.
"On charge 14: Conspiracy... we the jury... were hung, your honor."
The audience collectively gasped.
"Pardon?" Gunnarson silently asked Hartley.
"Means the jury couldn't come to a unanimous vote; the other charges you are home free on, but the Crown prosecutor's office has every right to pursue the charged further and charge you again."
"Damn it" Gunnarson fumed. He was still vulnerable.
Of the 17 charges, 14 he was found not guilty. But 1 charge for operating as a private detective without proper qualifications, 1 conspiracy charge and 1 fraud charge, had a hung jury.
"Mr. Mason, what will the Crown Prosecutor's office do?" The judge asked.
"Mr. Taylor would've said yes, but his knowledge on this case was far greater than me or any other prosecutor, including me. Therefore, I am requesting a 30 day reprieve to reconsider the evidence and re-examine the case at hand" the replacement prosecutor requested.

"Guilty of multiple counts of witness and evidence tampering, perjury, and operating as a private detective without proper qualifications."
Gunnarson's friends were shocked. They waited nervously to hear the sentence.
EDIT: RUN OVER
"Very well, court adjourned."
Gunnarson and his friends met to discuss what had unfolded.

"The good news is you are in the clear on most of the charges" Hartley said.
"Mon ami, but I am afraid the crown Prosecutor will come after you on the remaining charges" Poirot explained.
"I hate to say it, but I have been reviewing the papers and well, you're reputation has taken a hit because of this trial" Hastings explained.

"I'll be honest with you Gunnarson, it might be the best to leave this country... Figure out a settlement deal with Crown Prosecutor, maybe give up your citizenship if you have to, and move to America and start a new life there..." said Stein
"I could never do that! There are still so many things here I can't just leave unsolved!" shouted Gunnarson getting angry
"It might be the only option to save your face...I'm saying this as a Police Detective... And your friend" replied a concerned Stein
Gunnarson would have made a witty comment about people not caring about face value, but he wasn't able to put it into words...
"Whatever you plan to do Gunnarson, I'll follow you no matter what..." responded Hartley
"And we'll still support you all the way..." answered stein, realizing the pain he caused the Sweded, trying to cheer up his old friend...
"Then we must find Dr. Drugg, stopping him is the only way to clear my name and we must do it fast!" shouted Gunnarson full of spirit and vigor
"But how? Your not allowed near any crime scene let alone any police station..." asked Hstings
"Stein, can you handle the repercussions?" asked Gunnarson
"I'll talk to Gent about ti, gather Conrad and Johnson, see what we can do, but I can only help so far before word gets out..." replied Stein
"Alright then, Hartley come with me, we're going to find that Mad Doctor..." said Gunnarson as he grabbed Hartley, ready to go, before he was stopped
"What about us?" asked Poirot
"This is something only Hartley and I can do, but if you can help me find some leads, that would be more useful than you can imagine..." replied Gunnarson
"Alright then... Go stop the bastard would ya..." chuckled Hastings as Gunnarson and Hartley disappeared to begin their search for Drugg...

Drugg, meanwhile, was on a boat in the middle of London Harbor with Elvira, Blade, and his crew.
"Thank you for bringing us Elvira and the mind-control drugs, Doctor." Blade was saying. "Here's the money. If we run out of the drug, where can we find you for another shipment?"
"I'll be reachable at this address."
Suddenly, Müller (one of Blade's men) jumped up. "That's a German address! I studied in Germany, I know the streets of Berlin. That street ain't anywhere in England, but it is in Germany!"
"Okay, so I'm a German spy." Drugg said. "So what? It doesn't change the deal."
"We may be crooks, but we don't support fascists. Get 'im, boys!" And Blade and his men drew their guns at Drugg.
Fight fascism! Buy war bonds!

(Wait, Drugg can't die yet; there's a scene I prewrote a while back I want to use before we finish him off)
"Elvira, non-lethal!" Drugg ordered.
In a flash of speed not otherwise seen, Elvira quickly disarmed and managed to take on most of the boys... until she herself was knocked unconscious with a Lead pipe courtesy of Blade.
"You damn doctor, even I don't support the Nazis!" He said as he turned around... only to see a needle in his arm courtesy of Drugg.
"I know you don't. But you certainly feel drowsy, don't you?" Drugg asked.

Blade cursed at Drugg as he fell into a deep slumber.
"I'm not sure what to do with you... I think I'll leave Elvira and the potion here as promised, but I should leave before they come to. I haven't had a good swim in months."
So Drugg stripped, dove into the water, and swam towards shore. He had a small house on the waterfront he'd been renting out, and easily reached shore, went inside, and dressed... leaving his other clothes, with some valuable evidence in them, on Blade's ship...

(The pre-written scene will appear in the next post)
By the time Blade and his crew came to, Blade was fuming.
"Boys, I don't know if it is damn drugs affecting my brain, or my free will, but I have decided that we will ignore Gunnarson for the time being. That Damn Drugg we will make pay for deceiving us" Blade decided.
"You sure?" Friend asked.
"What of Elvira?" Müller asked. "For all we know, Drugg could have hypnotized her to kill us all if we say a certain word!" He argued.
......
(Tug, I apologize if you don't like this, and we can delete if you would rather not have it, but I had an idea)
Against the side of a building, Finnegan repeatedly slammed McGrath into the side of a building, while O'Connor looked on.
"I knew tapping the phone was a good idea; now why the hell were you informing on us to Drugg?!" Finnegan fumed.
"I JUST WANT MY WIFE AND KIDS BACK!!!" McGrath said, in tears.
