Written Works Guidelines
We ask that members explain why they dislike something, instead of posting something to the effect of "this sucks". We have a dislike button if it's really that bad. Constructive criticism is ideal.
It's also advised that you explain why you like something, instead of leaving replies like "Great!" We don't enforce this one as much, because many times an author will enjoy positive feedback like this regardless of what it says, but at any rate there is also a like button you can click instead.
Plagiarism
We are a creative writing forum, and encourage all sorts of creativity, from original works to inspired works. However, it is wrong at every level to take one's story and claim it as your own. Borrowing elements is fine, but just changing some words or names is NOT creativity, that is thinly veiled plagiarism.
If you acknowledge the original author and work, and explain that it is inspired by, or a parody of said work, no action will be taken against you. If we find out that you stole someone's ideas and claimed them as your own though, that is grounds for not only post deletion, but depending on the severity of the plagiarism, banning from the forum.
It is not wrong to draw inspiration from others. It IS wrong to take one's ideas and claim them as your own. Remember: give credit where credit is due.
And don't try to pull a fast one - some of our admins have active fanfiction.net accounts, and will not hesitate to check if you stole any works from there.
Content
We don't mind dark stories, and if your story has violence and swearing we'll allow it, but don't go overboard. Slurs will always be prohibited on this forum for any reason whatsoever, and if a story seems to cross over into "advocating things that are illegal", we'll definitely be pulling them.
