Recently there was some interesting discussion concerning the skill level of the heroes and villains of Literary Mosaic; this came about mainly as a result of my pondering of what would make for good match ups for recurring characters and planned stories down the line. The result was this system. Let's see how the folks who bring LM to life compare to one another.
.........
HEROES
TIER ONE: Your basic, "average Joe" kind of guy. Nothing super special or notable. However, when they witness a crime they will at least speak up. May have had military training in the past, but are long out of the service or crippled by injury.
EXAMPLES:
Nicko, the "cameo characters" who are the initial witnesses or reporters of crimes, Thomas Rogers
TIER TWO: More intelligent and capable than the average person. Special skills that make them stand out, but not quite as good as someone with specialized training. May have police or military training, but does not rely on it often, or does not stand out from the crowd.
EXAMPLES:
Gunnarson, Hartley, Marlena (LM 12), "typical" officers, like Conrad and Johnson
TIER THREE:
Specialized skills that make them more effective than private eyes or standard policemen, they can handle tougher threats and often deal with serial offenders, rather than "one-offs" like many criminals seen to date:
EXAMPLES:
Most of the Hell Patrol, experienced detectives and officers
TIER FOUR:
Highly trained and effective at what they do, they go against the elite criminals of the underworld. Highest levels of training available, more than standard soldiers,
EXAMPLES:
Walton, (TO BE REVEALED), members of SAS and other elite military groups.

VILLAINS:
TIER ONE:
Typical, "one-off" criminals. Not criminal by nature; only do a single crime out of emotion, rather than truly "gaining" something. Normal people with normal lives, but something happened that made them commit this one crime
EXAMPLES:
Ellis twins, Franz Gelb, the one-off vandals and one-off rapists in the Deck of Cards
TIER TWO:
Serial criminals; may have honest jobs by day but not always. but commit crimes at night, be it for money, revenge, or the "thrill" of it. May have skills that aid them, but nothing too special.
EXAMPLES:
J.J.E./C.B.H. , Dr. Drugg, lower ranked Irish mobsters, the serial arsonists, serial rapists and serial robbers of the Deck of Cards
TIER THREE:
More skilled criminals; criminality is their career and possibly lead small organizations or gangs. skills that make them stand out, but not quite "toughest of the tough"
EXAMPLES:
Blade (except for LM 13), higher ranked Irish mobsters, Blade's lieutenants, counterfeiters and serial killers off the Deck of Cards
TIER FOUR:
Crime lords and hardened criminals. Skilled to a degree, either lead organizations, or have skills that make them harder than the typical thug.
EXAMPLES:
The assassins, Blade (LM 13), Lord Bury, Shadow, Napoleon, One-Eyed Man
