Where did he come from? Why is the world's most powerful superweapon hidden inside him? Since when do model trains require AA batteries? Why is there a spare prism piece? Where is he now? Answer these and more here; in the colorman archives, shelf 7, between Azure and Ball Blue.

Another important question-
Bachmann did not start making Thomas products until 2002... so how does a [relatively] old engine wind up containing a fragment of a centuries old artifact?

I think that it's magic.

Actually Bachmann Edward was the last of the main numbered engines to be made, around 2008 I think, so how did an toy made about 7 years ago come into contact with a prism piece.

And how did he end up at the Quarry? (That's where he debuted in the old 3WSR).

Well, he was given to Thomas in a package, as I recall. Or do you mean something else?

No, that's what I meant.
I've recently revealed some new info: Bachmann Edward is the Essence of the Spirit of the Prism. The Spirit formed into the spare fragment when the Prism first shattered.
It still doesn't explain how it got into a model locomotive, though...

Maybe an unknown third party (let's call him "Tim") was one day playing with his model trains. Tim was minding his own business when one day, he found a strange rock. Fascinated by it, he took it home, and placed it near his Bachmann Edward. Suddenly, it glowed and the two fused, creating the sentient, powerful Bachmann Edward. Realizing its role in the world, when Tim came back his Edward model asked to be modified to take batteries, so he wouldn't be limited to model rails. He did so, and Bachmann Edward was set free, to go and fulfill his purpose in the world, but he had to find someone first. Who though, he didn't know, he just knew he had to find someone.

I like it, but how old was this "Tim" at the time? I've had an idea...

Oh, I was considering having him be the son of a colorman, or maybe even Shear, or Steven Hatt. One of those three.

I like the son of a colorman angle, actually. It's up to you though.
