"Well, when I was looking over the gloves, and I looked here, I noticed that something looked a little off. It wasn't until I put a little powder here that I finally realized what they were" Marlena explained.
The couple days were hectic, to say the least. Hammond and the church groundskeeper scrambled to make deals with the crown prosecutor for lenient sentences in exchange for their testimony against "Goodrop" and Wilma confessed that the money was going to go to her beloved church. She could not stand the sight of her church still having the scars from the war, and stole the jewels to make money to donate to her church. Knots explained that he was a middleman; he acquired cocaine from a producer then sold it on the streets for pocket money.
As for the second murder- shoe prints from boots "Goodrop" owned and his fingerprints on the ax sealed his fate; he confessed that this woman was only killed because he wanted the police to think there was a serial killer and throw them off.
Marlena enjoyed a modest amount of publicity from the case; she wasn't famous, but she wasn't a total unknown anymore either now. She felt proud of her accomplishment.
But one person in particular was impressed.
......
"There aren't too many women interested in this line of work; the fact that you pulled off a case like this on your first go is nothing short of impressive. Keep up the good work and you just might make a name for yourself one day" a man said, who came to visit her office.
"Thank you Mr Gunnarson; it means a lot coming from someone like you" Marlena replied.

"I know I've made many mistakes in my career," said Gunnarson, "notably, sometimes I base my accusations on hunches, rather than facts. It's something a good detective really needs to avoid. Take it from me, as you continue your career, make sure to always base your work on facts, and you'll go far." "I'll do my best," said Marlena. --------------------------- Marlena sat down in her office chair and inhaled. It had been an interesting case, but it was now over. She knew she still had a lot to learn and a long way to go, but she would get there in the end. She had a dream, and she was never giving up on it. THE END
