Dr. Gunther Drugg... Genius... madman... cold...calculating. A genius of chemistry, biology, pharmacology and physiology, his cocktails are almost as dangerous as the bomb itself. In the 1940s he infiltrated England for reasons no one was quite sure of... until now. Join us, as we explore the origins of Adolf Gunnarson's most sinister opponent, regarded as... The Undercover Doctor In Berlin, Germany a scientist nearing his middle age is hard at work. In his lab he is surrounded by vials and beakers, filled with all sorts of chemicals and compounds. A stack of papers is constantly updated and filled with notes as he keeps careful track of his progress... he was on the verge of a breakthrough. "Sodium Thiopental is quite popular as a truth serum... but even I can see that it is a flawed chemical. Perhaps the addition of another ingredient or two to this cocktail will perfect a truth serum that actually works. Heinz, pass me the barbiturate, it's time to dilute it" he said to his lab assistant. "Of course Dr. Drugg" Heinz said as he passed along a beaker. "Keep the benches clean! Even the slightest contaminant could wreck havoc on the final product" Dr. Drugg warned. "Yes sir" Heinz replied as he returned to cleaning the bench he was at. Just then, a knock came at the door. It subsequently opened as a younger man stepped in and observed "it is good to see you hard at work Drugg; but are you sure this is something worth pursuing? As a doctor your genius could really be put to good use in other capacities" the man said. "I assure you this research is quite vital, the Third Reich will benefit immensely from this breakthrough. At any rate what are you doing here? This is sensitive resear... oh! Dr. Mengele! Forgive me, I thought you weren't coming today!" Drugg said, shocked as he put his beaker down and went to greet his mentor. "I still don't get it; you're 15 years older than him; how are you his protege?" a confused Heinz asked, observing the unorthodox nature of the teacher/student relation.

"Even the wise have a few things to learn from the creative and unpredictable youth Heinz, besides, Dr. Mengele is the type of man you meet once in a lifetime, and I wish to learn everything he has to offer..." replied Drugg
"As you say Doctor, and forgive me for interrupting..." added Heinz as he stepped aside so the two could talk...
"My valuable protege, I have received word from the Fuhrer himself he wishes for someone in our department to infiltrate the dirty Brits and make sure their people are ready for defeat when we set out for the invasion of their pitiful island... I have decided you should be the one to go, since you are the most experienced of my subordinates, so you have a few weeks time until then to finish your research and improve the power of the Third Reich..." spoke Dr. Mengele
"Thank you Doctor, but I'm surprised, a man such as yourself wasn't given this duty?" asked Drugg
"Well, they said losing me would cripple our scientific advances, plus, they have given me work on a 'new project'..." replied Mengele
"Very well Doctor, I thank you for this opportunity!" answered Drugg as he and Mengele shared some departing formalities and Drugg was left to resume his work on his latest concoction...

A few hours later, the batch was ready.
"Excellent. If my theory is correct, when injected with this serum, it will cause anyone injected with it to tell the truth far more effectively than any other truth serum" he said. He then proceeded to collect his notes and go home.
"Dr. Drugg... why are you going to take your notes with you?" Heinz asked.
"I know of a certain institution in England... Broadmoor Hospital, it's called. It will work out perfectly. My cocktails could work wonders on the mentally ill... sure, I will have to help those pathetic British for a while... but in the long run, it will provide the perfect cover and a good opportunity to fulfill my mission" Dr Drugg explained.
"What is your mission?" Heinz asked.
"Not sure... Dr. Mengele said the SS would send someone over to give me my briefing, but I know nothing beyond that" Drugg explained as he took his notes... the only copy of his notes on his formulas.
"But then what is that whole thing about Broadmoor?" Heinz asked, confused.
"I did some research on London; it is my belief that this will provide the perfect cover job during my undercover assignment. The assignment itself I do not know yet" Drugg explained, and then he went home. Dr. Mengele oexplained that the orders were to remain there until the SS lieutenant arrived and gave him his briefing.

The next day, Dr. Drugg did not go to his lab. He remained in his apartment, listening to the radio, until at last, a knock at his door. He went to open it. "Are you the man I am expecting?" Drugg asked.
"Dr. Gunther Drugg?" The SS lieutenant asked.
"Yes" Drugg replied, as he fully opened the door and let the man in.
"I am Lieutenant Hauser of the SS; I am to give you your briefing" he said as they sat in the Parlor. He took his briefcase, put it on the table and opened it to reveal the documents pertaining to this assignment.
"Have you made any preparations with regard to your undercover assignment?" Hauser asked.
"Yes; I have looked into potential jobs to maintain my cover, and I think i found one that will perfectly allow me to blend in without arousing even the slightest suspicion. In fact, you could say that it will allow me to hide in plain sight" he said. He then detailed his plan for going to work at Broadmoor Hospital, thus allowing him to work with his cocktails freely on the mentally ill while he pursued his mission.
"Impressive... the fact that you were able to pull this together so quickly is proof enough you are the right man for the job" Hauser stated.
"Will this cause any problems for the mission I am about to receive?" Dr. Drugg asked.

"Not at all... in fact, I think you will find that it works perfectly with the mission you are going to be given" Hauser explained. Then he began showing Drugg some files.
"As you know, Britain currently stands alone to the west. But after the failure of The Blitz we are going to be focusing most of our efforts to the east with the Soviets. That does not mean we are completely abandoning our attacks on Britain though. You see, your work on cocktails that can influence others just may be the edge we need to strike at the British and demoralize them"
"How exactly do you expect me to go about something like that?" Drugg asked.
"Simple... we have limited intelligence on the criminal underworld of London, and we have found that a rather... sizable business exists in the field of... assassinations" Hauser said with a grin.
"So what? You expect me to travel with Britain with some money to pay them to assassinate Churchill and the others?" Drugg asked.
"Oh no, nothing like that... yet" Hauser explained. "Rather, we want you to... take control of these assassins. As it stands our current espionage operations in London have been negligible and yielded meaningless results. But you have a most unique opportunity. If you can perfect your cocktails, then we can use the assassins to our advantage, and cause great devastation to London. While it may not be as damaging as a bombing raid, using assassins to kill several key individuals should be more than enough to compensate" Hauser reasoned.
"I understand... when do I leave?" Drugg asked.
"Tonight... you shall sail via U-boat to this location" Hauser indicated on the map. "From there, you will travel to Broadmoor, and the psychiatry patients there should be more than adequate test subjects for your cocktails" Hauser explained.
"Excellent... but if I show up out of no where..." Drugg realized.
"Already taken care of; these papers will create a new identity for you in England. Hopefully these should minimize suspicion, Dr. Gerald Drugg" Hauser stated.
"I understand... I will get ready" Dr. Drugg replied.
......
It had taken many days and nights, and careful planning to ensure that the U-boat was not compromised. But at last, Dr. Drugg touched down in England, and his mission began.
"I have nothing but my paperwork and formulas, plus what I could fit in my suitcase. I only hope that the money they gave me will be enough until I can settle down with work" he thought to himself as he traveled. He did wonder how the German officers he spoke to were able to provide him with 100 pounds in genuine British currency... but then he felt it best to not ask too many questions, he reasoned.
