Or at least that's what the crew thought you would happen... but it didn't...
------------------
"You don't know?"
"Nope."
"You're evading the question, and I won't join until you tell me who 'Jack Sproket' is."
"Oh, Jack Sproket? I thought he said 'Jack Nantucket'."
"So you DO know him!"
"Alright alright, you win!"

"I don't care about the dead man. What I do care about is my freedom. I'll join your fleet, if and only if I can do my own thing most of the time and only split profits with you when we collaborate. In return, I'll only demand a share of the profit when I have a hand in the mission. People like me because I work alone, I'm reluctant to give that up."
Tuggington considered.

"Fine, you raise my flag and answer my call from time to time, and occasionally sail alongside me, and I'll let you run wild on the seas using my name!" laughed Tuggington as the two shook on the agreement
"Now about that liner..."

As the two sailed off, a body popped up from underneath the waves.
"Damn you Tuggington, I will get you one of these days, after the murder of my parents the only thing good enough for you is hell itself..."
So spake Jack Sproket.
Meanwhile...

Frank was talking to the men about the recovery.
"the two sloops were too damaged and sank... but this galleon should make for adequate salvage in addition to what else we recovered" Frank explained.
"I see... so what about bodies?" One official asked.
"Ended up recovering 53 total. Only 5 were navy sailors though; rest pirates. We didn't find any lifeboats so we're unsure about the rest of the crew of the ships" Frank explained.
"Anything of value?" One official finished up with.
"Beyond some wood pieces... we do have a detailed breakdown of everything recovered" Frank said, showing him the list.
"We will specify what we shall recover... the rest you are free to use at your leisure" the official said.
So, the officals spent a good deal of time talking about what would become property of the navy, while Captain Jones made a speech to his crew.
"shore leave for the next three days gentlemen; you've earned it" he declared.
Frank took up a room at an Inn and simply decided to get some much needed rest... and work on his plans for "improved weaponry"

The Kraken did not lung after all. Instead, it was crying.
"WAIT WHAT?" cried to crew.
"Ow! What did you go and do that for?" wailed to Kraken.
"We thought you wanted to attack us."
"No I didn't," said the Kraken between sobs, "I just wanted to ask if I could join your crew."
"Oh... didn't see that coming."
"But you're a Kraken," said a crew member.
"That's true, but I always had the deepest respect for the Navy and my goal was to become a member of it."
"Oh, shoot man, I'm sorry," said Admiral Diesel. "Look, to make it up to you, sure you can join my crew. You'd be a big help to us."
"Really? You mean that? Gee, thanks!"
"The Kraken is a kid..." thought the men, pleasantly surprised...

Tuggington had returned to the Scrap Iron Dreadnought, though Tiberius couldn't believe it, they had been following the Saltash this whole time...
"So what be are next heading captain?" asked Pett
"We'll be going back to that liner we passed on our way out of port, and, with the signal of our soon to be first ship of the Mechanized Fleet, we will attack that ship and kill all the navy men aboard..." answered Tuggington
"No plunderin' then?" questioned Pett
"No, but most likely we'll be given some of the treasure since the Saltash won't be able to hold it all, by the way, that's th name of our fleet's latest acquisition..." replied Tuggington as the ship turned around back towards Vaximus to ambush the liner...

EPISODE 4 The Annihilator was out at sea again... this time with a new crew member. "I still can't believe it," said one of the men, "A Kraken joining a crew? That's a first." "Ay," said the Manxman. "In all my years at sea I would never ha' suspected that."

Tiberius yelled angrily back at the pirates. "We're not going that way."
"But-"
"Anyone can ambush a ship at sea. But I'm going to take this ship while it's in port of its capital city, Vortun. I want everyone to see their marvel of engineering fall to the enemy."

"Fine then, set sail for Vortun boys! I had business there anyway!" laughed Tuggington as the Scrap Iron Dreadnought followed behind the Saltash, on their way to famous capital Vortun, with an adventure not far behind them...

"No, what happened?" asked the maid.
"You're not going to believe this, but..."

"Timmy is stuck in the well!" He said.
.........
Meanwhile, captain Tuggington was eating 5,473rd Hardtack biscuit when...
"Ow!" he screamed, as a tooth fell out. "Well, there goes number seven; damn this scurvy" he fumed.
(Just kidding; feel free to ignore this; I just wanted to get at least one scurvy joke in)
......
At Vortun, the crew of the Grey Eagle were enjoying the last night of their time off; Captain Jones received his instructions on what to do about the damaged hulk that was once the Serpent.
"Take it to Cetlin; the shipbuilding community will know what to do with it" the Navy official instructed.
"Understood" Captain Jones said. Then he went to the harbormaster to ask for other contracts involving Cetlin; whatever money they could make before returning to East Gartun would really help out the boss.
Frank had returned to the Grey Eagle and was briefed on the job.
"We leave at first light" Captain Jones explained.
"Understood; are the crew returned to the ship?" Frank asked.
"You're the last one to return; all hands accounted for" Captain Jones said.
"Excellent; departure should be efficient and quick" Frank observed.
"I should hope so; good night Frank" Captain Jones said as Frank went over some diagrams that seemed to indicate Frank was trying to combine the steam engine of a locomotive with a sailing ship.
"If my theory is correct... a large enough steam engine should make a ship no longer dependent on the wind to sail" Frank thought to himself... but what was that missing piece he was looking for?
......
The next day at first light, the last of the cargo was being loaded onto the Grey Eagle, and the Serpent was prepared for towing; Frank calculated that they would be there in 3-5 days, depending on the conditions.
"On the double lads! This dock needs to be cleared within the hour! A ship is coming in and we must clear a berth for it... the "Saltash" or something like that" Captain Jones explained.

Jack Sprocket floated about the sea angrily. He was cold and wet, and madder than ever at Tuggington. He even had a whole in his head now.
"Wait, I have a whole in my head. How can I still be alive?!" He quickly sized up the situation. "I must be a ghost then, with unfinished business to take care of. Hmm... this should help in getting rid of that damn Tuggington once and for all." He smiled. "Hehe... thank you Tuggington!"

But a shark swallowed him hole, thus ending his story for us
......
"Raise the sails lads! We depart momentarily! First mate Collins, are the lines secure?"
"Aye sir!"
"Right, all ahead boys, we sail for Cetlin- and make sure you eat your ration of fruit before it goes bad! Last thing we need on this ship is scurvy" Captain Jones ordered.
As the Grey Eagle towed the Serpent out of port, they saw about 5 miles off the port bow a schooner sailing towards Viortun
"That must be the Saltash. Hard starboard helmsman! Give them room to sail in!" Captain Jones ordered.
The Grey Eagle sailed away from the Saltash, giving them plenty of room as the Grey Eagle seemingly disappeared over the Horizon (due to the Curvature of the Earth)

(Sorry Eyes- that was meant to be a joke)
The Grey Eagle sailed on with the Serpent in tow.
"What's to become of the Serpent? I've heard stories of her being a mighty galleon and all" Second Mate Frank asked.
"Yes, but now she's a ghost of her former glory. I imagine the breakers will take her- good wood will be used to repair other ships and the rest reused in other ways. On the other hand, some shipbuilders are in the business of creating what they call "battery forts;" some ships that are no longer seaworthy but deemed solid overall are repaired, then beached along an island's coast. Imagine that- gun batteries out of former ships" Captain Jones said.
"Though as a former pirate ship- I imagine her fate being the breakers" Second Mate Frank replied
"More than likely" Jones agreed

(I know, I found it pretty funny myself. ) Elsewhere, high above the sea, an airship sailed along the clouds. The zeppelin was called the Empire of the Clouds, and was basically the sky equivalent of a pirate ship. When Admiral Diesel caught word of it, he instantly set his sights to the skies to bring down the mighty Empire...

Time out-
Wait a second- this is pirate times, i.e. 1600s-1700s, what's a Zeppelin doing here? There's only early steam engines (allowing for some technological advancement), and there's no diesel engines
Time in
.....
The flying beast was revealed to be a trick of the clouds; but still, the crew could not help but be amazed by what they saw as the future of travel

(No, this is an alternate universe, sort of like OP, where anything is possible. This is a separate world. Heck, the world may be flat for all we know. I thought I'd do some world building by bringing in a zeppelin.)
Actually it was real, very real...
The captain of the Empire was Captain Bruce "McBrain" Murray, and was legendary throughout the world. Originally a hard-working sailor, a mutiny forced him to kill and that ended up making him go insane. Building the Empire from scratch by himself, it now held a reign of terror above the sky and on the lands below.
It was, in short, the kind of thing Admiral Diesel would attack.

(So we haven't figured out diesel engines and modern firearms and we sail the seas on wooden ships with sails, but we've figured out how to build rigid airships? Got it) (this is meant to be lampshade hanging)
While Frank was off duty, he continued working on his plans for "steam driven" ships... he knew from railroads that steam engines could be used for locomotives... but a steamship? If the design could just be figured out...
(and no one beat me to this with any of the designs he comes up with- the fact that they don't exist yet actually plays a very important role in the bigger backstory for my character, which will be coming up soon)
