Tiberius, too, was going on his merry way. He was taking his crew on the Grey Hawk back to their base to begin construction on the most ludicrous smuggling empire imaginable.
But to do that, a few things were needed. Motors, cables, and lots of metals and lumber. So Tiberius, Brinley, and Rhyannon set off with a fortune in gold leaf to trade with the Nurviun Wizards.

Frank was getting ready to disembark, when Tuggington saw him with his sack of things.
"Where are you going, Frank?" Tuggington asked.
Frank sighed, "I've been racked with guilt these past several days- I dedicated myself to the liberation of my home island and then I just up and vanished while everyone else went to work and rebuild East Gartun to its former glory. What right have I to sail with you when my island needs me now more than ever? Feel free to keep the telegraph I set up as a gift; but I must return to East Gartun, not just for the Sons of Freedom, but everyone who calls that island home. I... can only hope that you will understand why this is something I must do" Frank finished, as he prepared to disembark

"No."
Tuggington drew his sword and held it at Frank's neck.
"East Gartun can manage itself. You made a deal with me to serve. I think you want to avoid working with me and want to return to a cushy job ruling your new island. At least Tiberius is off to sell his loot for money for me- for us."

"Look, it's not that," said Frank.
"Do I care? No. But we have ways of dealing with... TRAITORS!"
And with one quick movement, Tuggington's sword sliced through something soft, now turned wet and sticky.
Presumably, Frank's neck.
ANYWAYS, Diesel was elsewhere busy working to find out where Tuggington was.

At least, that is what Diesel planned to do after the meeting, mentioned on the previous page
......
"What are you talking about? I have no interest in ruling the island nor do I want a cushy job. I simply feel I had no right to leave when there is much to be done." Frank said, remaining calm.
"I'm sorry, Frank; I should've known you not to be a traitor" he said, lowering his sword. "Consider this though..."
......
Admiral Diesel spoke for the four before Sandici, "whatever choice you make... we will support"

Back on the Scrap Iron Dreadnought, Tuggington explained the proposition. "The City of Gold... ever hear of it?"
"Only the myths and legends. You think its real?" Frank asked.
"There's something I want to show you" Tuggington said as they went down to the cartographer's room
......
At the shipyards where the Annihilator of the Seas was being converted to run on the "black stuff" a bit of a snag had been hit.
"What do you mean you could not eliminate the sails? The designs called for..."
"I know, I know, but the fact is... internal combustion is still in its infancy sir; and an engine on this scale has never been built before. Quite frankly, we don't know what will happen, and if this engine fails... imagine what would happen if it was stuck at sea. With how big it is, it is a significant investment lost!"
"Ugh... Admiral Diesel isn't going to like this... so who will tell him?"
Every one of the shipyard foremen just stared at each other. They did not want to incur his wrath...

Rileius, meanwhile, put their plan into action.
They had found a loose piece of wood and eventually created a hole large enough to fit through. Clutching the knife, she peered through the hole. The water was about three feet deep, and was close enough that they could lower theirself into the water and walk along the reef. The rags they wore quickly were drenched, but they ignored it. They quickly climbed back into the ship, stripped off the wet rags and tried futilily to dry them, and huddled in a corner until nightfall.
When nightfall came, they climbed out again and carefully walked along the reef away from the ship, relying on cover of night to protect them.
Unfortunately, things went bad quickly. Swimming was not something royals were taught, and the reef dropped off to about ten feet deep, forcing them to swim frantically back to the safest place they could stand, which was still too close to the ship. Their plan wouldn't work. Unless...
They climbed the rigging up to the deck. They had a plan.

In the far north, where the sea is treacherous and full of icebergs, there is a land where the air is warm and glass spires soar 800 feet in the air. The island contains one city, built around a sparkling lake, and seven small towns encircling it, with a total population of 5700. The people of Nurviun have technology centuries ahead of their time, and outsiders call them wizards and fear them.
A speedboat halted the Grey Hawk as they prepared to dock. Tiberius raised a flag made of a special reflective material that identified him as a trusted merchant, and they were allowed to dock at the port town of Noplion, where Brinley and Rhyannon got their first look at the people of Nurviun.
Fashion was clearly important to them, since they were positively covered in body paint and jewelry, but the vast majority wore little to nothing in the way of clothing. They had no need for it on their little island. They had no need of much else, either. Decades ago, they had built a race of machine men called the Daxon. Distinguishable from humans only by their aqua skin tone, these automatons did all the labor for the citizens, allowing them to frolic or innovate as they pleased.
The machinery was no less impressive. Cranes on a scale beyond anything Brinley or Rhyannon had ever seen lifted crates full of jewels, foodstuffs, and metal components.
Tiberius leapt down onto the deck, having donned the red cap all visitors to Nurviun were required to wear. Brinley and Rhyannon followed nervously.
A large man approached, raising an arm in greeting. He was wearing literally thousands of gold and bronze chains inlaid with tiny rubies draped over his arms, chest, and legs, and was completely coated in red paint with elaborate patterns in green, blue, and gold.
"Tiberius! To Nurviun we welcome back you, oh Light In The Darkness. What do you desire, and what do you offer in exchange?"
"Ah, Callys. For myself, Lumber, Cables, Motors, and Metals to build myself a home. I have also fallen in with an ally, one who I believe would be an asset to you, who desires projectile weapons and electro-lights. In exchange, I bring you several kilos of gold leaf?"
"Hmm... you know one of us must personally meet each prospective client to judge their worthiness?"
"I am aware."
"Then we shall discuss all these business matters with Dinardi and Capeil over dinner. But first, shed your robes of darkness and come to the Lake Of Nurviun to forget your troubles for a time. And that goes for your crew as well."
Tiberius greatly enjoyed dealing with the Nurviuns. They were always friendly and generous, and he could always expect days of debauchery when he visited. The fact that the citizens of Nurviun considered themselves superior and planned to one day invade the isles to the south and kill all who weren't "worthy" concerned him not one bit.

Frank decided that he would remain with Tuggington for the time being... but for him, his loyalties lied to East Gartun, and he had sincerely hoped that he would be able to return, and not be thought of as someone who abandoned the cause.
......
On East Gartun, much of the damage done by the Crastvin Rule had been undone. The Crastvin monuments had been torn down and shipped to Vaximus Mothmaar, and better housing and living conditions went up as people found decent work, building proper homes and setting the stage for East Gartun to prosper.
The Aderan Empire Nobles spared from the exile were allowed to keep their current estates in Good Faith... provided they kept treating their workers well in their respective businesses. Other Estates along The Hill were deconstructed; the materials would be sold to other places to generate money for the new Republic.
All the while, a certain Aderan Noble was determined to avenge Bernard Crastvin, and correct what he saw as an "injustice."
"Do not worry, brother. Soon, I shall raise up a force so large, East Gartun will once again tremble before the might of the Crastvin Family! Your death was not in vain, and you shall be avenged" Clifford Crastvin thought to himself, before going into a meeting with other nobles to discuss "the plan" for the invasion...
......
Elsewhere in the Aderan Sea Region...

Tuggington woke up in a haze, not realizing what had gone on in the last few hours. After the success in East Gartun his crew had partied at sea for three days straight, leaving him to be unsure of his previous meetings...
"Ah whatever, better figure out our next location, who knows what kind of adventures are waiting for us out there!" giddily spoke the slightly hungover Tuggington as he left his quarters for the brightly shining sun on deck...

The crew was passing the time; with no targets in sight they enjoyed playing some deck games, singing sea shanties and the like. Frank however, was not in the best of moods. He looked up and saw that the sails weren't catching any wind. Indeed, there wasn't even a breeze today, meaning that the Scrap Iron Dreadnought was basically sitting there, waiting to catch a good wind. He had been investigating some of the old pirate legends, and despite not being sure if some of them even existed he couldn't help but be curious.
"Let's see... there's El Dorado, the legendary City of Gold. The Fountain of Youth, whose waters are said to restore even the most crippled of men to their prime. The Island of Sarameleos, where according to legend, if you land there and find the Amulet of Cardenia, it will grant you any wish you so desire. But what of this treasure, the One Piece..."
"The One Piece doesn't exist" Tuggington said as he walked up to Frank.
"Are you sure?" Frank asked.
"Positive; I happen to know about this crew of 10 who have been searching for it for nearly 21 years, and they still haven't found it" Tuggington replied.
"Ok then... well, what are your thoughts on these other legends then?" Frank asked.

"But captain I thought we were searching for it too?" asked Taylor
"Don't say that! It's supposed to be a secret!" shushed Tuggingotn as he smacked Taylor into submission
"Sorry... Captain..."
"About those legends... I think I might have a lead on that City of Gold, but we'll have to wait for a right tailwind to get us there..."

Later that day, Tiberius, Brinley, and Rhyannon returned to the fleet, with Callys aboard.
Tuggington greeted them. "Who is your guest?"
"Callys hails from the Nurviun Isles." Tiberius explained. "Before he gives you his technology, he must decide if your cause is a worthy one."
"I see." Tuggington said. "I'll speak to him shortly."

Far across the ocean waves, unknown to our core characters, was a maiden a-coming with a fleet of ten thousand ships. The land was going to be swept away, all old things would pass, and flowers would blaze.
At the helm of the leadship was the greatest commander the world would ever know.
Destined to be a hero, for Sarah had told herself one thing:
"I'M GONNA BE QUEEN OF THE PIRATES!"

"I shall sail on to the Aderan Sea Region! But since the world is flat, we shall sail THIS way to avoid falling off the planet" She declared. And so she ended up going the long way... which would add seven months to her voyage. ...... Meanwhile, Sandici's big four were resting when... "GAHH!!!" Screamed Admiral Eyes. He had lit a cigar, but he ignited the fumes of his Diesel fuel blood, thus setting himself on fire. Now he was running around like crazy. "PUT IT OUT! PUT IT OUT!" He screamed. Fraude threw a bucket of water at him... only for it to leave a bump on Eyes' head. "Next time just throw the damn water!" Eyes fumed. So the scientist did that... but the water only made things worse. "Someone think of something!" the general screamed. (Eyes will probably dismiss it as a dream or something, but so worth it )

"So what is the deal with this City of Gold anyway?" Frank asked.
"Legend speaks of a city where its population is so prosperous, the streets and buildings themselves are made of gold. Many have tried, but none have succeeded" Tuggington declared.
"Surely you don't believe those old legends" Tiergan said.
"What?"
"300 explorers have searched for the lost city and none were ever seen alive again"
"Uh... excuse me for a moment" Frank said, as he ran to his bunk and hid under the covers, terrified.
