But now Stein had something else to think about. "Why would there be make up? What would the murderer need that for?"

"Well there is something else" the officer went on to explain. "With regard to the hallucinations. We couldn't directly test for it, but we have strong suspicions that the drug you were exposed to... was Lysergic acid diethylamide" the officer explained.
"LSD? That hallucinogen invented by that Swiss chemist in 1938? How did that stuff make it all the way to England?" Stein asked, confused.
"Exactly; it's not exactly a popular commodity in these parts, and yet the symptoms seem to be consistent with the drug" the officer said.
"But that stuff lasts hours, I only was out for a few minutes" Stein pointed out.
"Perhaps it wasn't a potent dose?" the officer theorized

"It would have to be pretty dilute not to affect the rider... I'll bet most of this powder is sugar or something else. But there's only one way to find out. I have a friend, an apothecary on High Street, she knows everything there is to know about drugs. If anyone can give us answers, it's her." Stein explained

"But didn't you just say it was mostly make up?" Stein asked.
"To be honest... we don't know much" The officer shrugged.
"Guess we'd better get going then" Stein said as the officer nodded and they went to leave.
......
About half an hour later, the two were walking down High Street, passing several businesses along the way.
"Which store is your friends?" Officer Rogers asked.

"Elsie's. Ah, here we are. After you, gentlemen..."
They went inside, where they saw...

... drugs and other substances arranged in shelves along the walls. At the end of the store, the very person Stein was looking for.
"Please go get Conrad and Johnson; they've been working with me on this case and I would like them in on the investigation as it unfolds" I told Rogers as he nodded and left. Then I approached the Apothecary.
"Can I help you?" She asked.

Stein summarized what had transpired and gave her a sample of the material.
"I don't even need to run any tests, the odor gives it away. That's a special makeup I invented. It's luminescent and can be used to great effect in small quantities. I sold a whole barrel just a few weeks ago to a theatre down in Croydon. You might want to make inquiries there."
Croydon was about ten miles south of London, and arranging transportation would be difficult.

He couldn't wait for approval to use a police car, so he decided that he would use his personal car; it was the only viable option.
An hour later, he was outside the theater in Croydon. Once he entered, requested that he immediately speak to the manager of the theater.
"is there a problem?" The usher asked.
"It is of great urgency, yes. I must speak to the manager at once" Stein explained.
A little while later he was with the theater manager in the office.
"Is there something I can help you with?" The manager asked.
"Yes; it's regarding that luminescent makeup you special ordered; what was it meant to be used for?" Stein asked.

"A production of Hamlet, for the ghost. The barrel is still in the back, in fact. We loaned it out to a friend of the man who plays Laertes for a while, but he returned it just this morning, actually." The theatre mananger explained.

"If I may ask... where is this barrel?" Stein inquired.
"Just downstairs; come on, I will show you" the manager offered.
Once in the basement, they went to the barrel, and opened it. Stein looked at it carefully.
"No doubt about it... the is the powder I've been finding at the crime scenes of the Dullahan and Banshee attacks" Stein concluded.
"What?" The manager asked, concerned.
"I hate to be the bearer of bad news... but someone who has recently handled this barrel... has committed murder" Stein explained.

"One of... my people?"
"Not necessarily. Truth be told, it could be anyone," said Stein. "But I do want to talk to some of the actors here..."

Stein went on to interview some of the actors; none of them really yielded any useful information until...
"So your friend that borrowed the barrel... what was he going to use it for?" Stein asked.
"Said something about a production of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. And his girlfriend needed a bit for some Irish mythological piece for something.
"Legend of Sleepy Hollow? Wait, the villain in that story is..." and it suddenly hit him.
"Good lord... I don't have much time! Where can I find this man?" Stein asked.
"Darcy McLaughlin? Oh, lives only a couple miles from here; can't miss him, he's the only Irishman in this neck of the woods" the actor said.
"Irishman... of course!" Stein said, realizing it in his mind.

So he drove to the address provided. By now it was getting dark, and there was a chill in the air. Stein was worried. Rain, or worse snow, could wash out the roads and leave him stranded.

Nevertheless, he plowed on, until he saw a policeman up ahead. He rolled down the window as the officer came up to him.
"Yes, officer?"
"Road ahead is closed, you'll have to turn back."
"That's a shame. Is it-" then something hit him and he blacked out.

He came to a while later... the area felt familiar though.
"What the... this is the park where I found the first victim! But how, why..." Stein thought to himself.
Then, he heard it... the high pitched scream the witnesses reported hearing. He turned around, and saw it- the ghostly figure that was creating that scream- the Banshee.
"So, the Banshee has revealed herself... then where is the Dullahan?" He asked aloud. "Darcy! The jig is up! I am not afraid of you!" Stein revealed. He didn't carry a gun, but he had an idea once he saw the Dullahan coming.
And there it was- off in the distance the headless horseman, ready to strike.
"ANTHONY STEIN!" The Dullahan called out. But Stein was unnerved.
"You and I both know the mere utterance of my name should be enough to kill me! Though also, THIS should be enough to keep you away" he said, revealing a gold ring on his finger.
But that didn't stop the Dullahan from charging. Stein had another idea. He curled up into a ball and waited until the horse was just close enough. Then, with a sudden surprise, he springed up, began waving his arms like a madman, and screaming. It worked perfectly. Old Thunder was spooked, he reared, up, prompting the Dullahan to fall off his horse with a thud as Old Thunder galloped off into the distance.
"Darcy!" The "banshee" screamed as she suddenly ran over to the fallen Dullahan. Stein came over as well. The Banshee beat him to the Dullahan though, and tearing away part of the shirt revealed the human underneath.
"Kate; I'm so sorry I brought you into this" he said between groans of pain.
"Darcy McLaughlin... it's over" Stein said sternly as he approached them. The two looked at him, and realized the jig was up.

That's when Kate pulled a gun from the depths of her costume.
"Freeze." She ordered, targeting Stein, who was still approaching Darcy. This allowed Darcy to pull his own gun on him.

"Put the guns down," said Conrad and Johnson, stepping out of the shadows. Kate gulped, and quickly dropped the weapon, as did Darcy. "Now then, everything you say can be held against you..."

Later that night at police headquarters...

Conrad and Johnson explained everything.
"We had a hunch the pair would strike again; so we stationed ourselves in the park waiting for, well, anything to happen. Guess we didn't realize they were targeting you tonight" Johnson observed.
"Though why they would target you is a bit odd... it wasn't exactly publicly announced every step of the way what you were doing, and you didn't meet the criteria of their targets" Conrad explained.
"Yea... Darcy ended up confessing to seven murders as the Dullahan in total. All the men he killed were completely unrelated to each other except in one facet- they all frequented a favorite pub of Darcy's and were proud British Nationalists who hated the Irish" Johnson explained.
"They had it coming!" Darcy yelled from his cell. "Hating on us for no reason other than being Irish; they deserved it! We tried to lead honest careers as actors, but... we needed to take our revenge! Revenge for all the unjust hatred, and the near annihilation of our culture! This was how the dullahan and banshee came to be! Ireland's revenge against Great Britain!" Dracy declared proudly.

Stein sighed. "Well, this was an interesting case to say the least..."
Conrad and Johnson agreed.

"Anyway Stein, G2 said they would send someone here to pick up the two, being Irish Nationals with ties to the 'Free Irish' Movement they wanted to bring them in for questioning..." added Conrad
"Who's getting them then?" asked Stein
"Some Agent 520-something, I forgot to write it down, but we should carry on, they said a Demon is possessing a girl in a Church basement up in Canterbury and they asked you to get look at it while these two are being booked..." added Johnson
"The supernatural never rests... So, you two coming along?" asked Stein
"You need the muscle right?" laughed Conrad
"Ha... Never change you two, come on, we can take my car, they picked it up from the crime scene and it's already to go..." responded stein as the three officers went out to take care of another case against all known laws...
