It's time for another countdown on the forum, and today we're going to kick off a list I've been planning for a long time but never got around to it... until now. The Thomas community has some brilliant people who have made some brilliant stuff, and it's only fitting that they get their due. So, starting today, I'm going to start a list of the Top 10 best TTTE fan works of all time. Did I say 10? Silly me. This list goes to 11. That's right, the Top 11 best series, fan fictions, or stand alone films in the Thomas community. Some of these may not even really feature the TTTE characters - as long as they were made by the fans, for the fans, they'll go here. I'm only posting one a day, so enjoy this list of TTTE Fan Works: The Countdown.
Kicking off the list at #11 is the first TTTE video to really shock the fandom - Skarloey123's Sodor: The Dark Times. Viewing it in this day and age, other stuff like Shed 17 make it look tame in comparison, but context is key here, just like when comparing old horror films to more modern ones. All who watched Sodor: The Dark Times were completely shocked at what was happening to their favorite characters, and so, while it hasn't aged all that well it's still one of the best fan works for a reason. Alfred the B12 has also entered the fandom as one of the greatest villains of any Thomas fan work.

Coming in at #10 on the countdown is the highly unique series of talking trains Crossed Lines. According to creator Hayden Spencer, or 'halfbakedhex8' as most people know him, Crossed Lines was meant to be a series that would move as far away from Thomas and Friends as possible, but still be able to be recognized as an influence. He certainly succeeded, as Crossed Lines has become one of the best series in the entire Thomas fandom not featuring the Thomas and Friends engines.

At #9 on the list, it's time to take a trip to The Other Railway as we meet up with Diesel and all his friends in Tales From The Other Railway. TFTOR is the premier parody series on SiF written by Professor Vengeance. Instead of looking at all the joys of Sodor, we instead get to see what life is like for all those diesels that came to Sodor but were sent packing. There's a lot of crazy sh*t here and it's all so funny. Professor Vengeance will usually take a Thomas story and twist it round and round until it's so warped that you won't know what the f**k you're reading but won't care because of how great it is. There's a reason it's such a popular series among both SiF members and Fansite visitors. Just remember though, this is NOT for kids!

Some Youtubers can seemingly do no wrong, and that's the case with #8 on the list. It would be hard to choose just one of the amazing videos by TARDIS Rescue, so I'm gonna cop out and put them all on here. Whether you like Trainz vids or actual model railway ones, they're all great here. Not only do they feel very Awdry-esque and like throwbacks to the first seasons of the TV Series, but they're all fun and very well done, and his channel is one to keep up with and check out.

WildNorWester has created two amazing series, and they're both going on the list. #7 is a tie between Sodor: The Early Years and it's successor Sodor: The Modern Years. With these two Trainz series, WildNorWester has managed to put his own spin on Sodor's history in an interesting way, with al, new stories, some of them featuring elements of the original Railway Series. It's all highly interesting, highly fun, and something you should make sure to check out.

At #6 in the coutdown comes one of the best Wooden Railway series on YouTube. You might think that being an admin on the TTTE Wikia and a moderator on SiF was enough, but then SkarloeyRaikway01 had to go and make the Wooden Railway Series. Taking the original Awdry-penned stories an adapting them into episodes using little wooden engines would appear daunting for some, but he's managed to create something very great here, and though the series is now sadly over it wil, still be watched and enjoyed for years to come.

As we hit the Top 5 we're getting really into the best of the best, and #5 itself is no exception. Simon Martin's The British Railway Stories is a wonderful model series about the end of British Steam. Featuring a cast of endearing characters, this often fun, sometimes dark, and rather sad series is special because not only is it popular on YouTube, but Simon has published a book as well (and a Wikipedia page). It's a grand old series, and one you most definitely should check out.

At #4 is one of the films that changed everything in the Thomas fandom. At over two hours long, Tobias and the Half-Pariah wasn't Tines's first video but it's his most popular, and for good reason. It challenged the fandom's perception of Thomas in new ways, being about Toby's beginnings - presented in a new way that was never thought of before and will never be done again. If you have time, you ought to watch it. It might drag along, but it's utterly brilliant and is highly recommended by Thomas fans.
