Vallerium is the most dangerous of the Colormen alloys. When in contact with skin, it completely nullifies the powers of the individual in question. Even after removal, the effects linger. Namely, the powers are still gone for a while, and they only return steadily. It is so powerful, that the select Colormen who know the formulation have taken many precautions to protect it. This is the story of its origins.
......
In the early years of the first era, the Man In Black proved himself to be a brilliant blacksmith, and created many "unnatural" alloys. Each had a purpose- the first created was radmiium; an alloy that prevented teleportation.
"Chains and shackles made from this will prevent sorcerers from teleporting out of cells- that is how we will catch them and keep them imprisoned" he explained. But others proved too powerful, and could escape by other means. So the Man In Black had to find a solution.
When the faction was about 400 strong, Black called 7 other lineages to him. They had been chosen.
"As of today, you will join me as the sole forgers of the most dangerous alloy known to magic- Vallerium. It will completely nullify powers as long as worn" Black explained.
the other 7 gasped. "But such knowledge could be dangerous if it gets out.". One said
"what if it is used against us?" Said another
"I have planned for this. you see, the formulation has been coded to this piece of paper. I have charmed this paper so that only those who sign in blood may be able to read it. And when they read it, they will find that they cannot verbally speak the formulation unless alone, or with another who has signed. That is how we shall protect it from outsiders.
"but what about evil?"
"I have linked the charm to the morality check- only as long as a Colorman remains good shall he know the knowledge. And since it is so powerful, at any given time only 8 Colormen are allowed to have the knowledge to forge it."
"kind of sounds like you are shutting out your fellow high Colormen" pointed out one.
"no; I have explained and they agree that it is best in the knowledge of a select few. We will primarily use it to forge shackles and chains for our prisons to keep evil magic users from their powers. That is the primary use." He expanded.
And so, the eight men signed in blood, and the knowledge was acquired. When the prism was shattered and the dark age began, the knowledge of Vallerium as well disappeared- that is why no evil Colormen forged Vallerium for their own purposes.
it only came back in recent times, though the Man In Indian Red was notoriously tricked into forging Vallerium for the SOM. He was able to do this because for years he was tricked into believing that "it was to imprison great enemies; the prison that shall be built. That is why Impel Down has Vallerium walls.
I think I covered most of the bases- anything I left out? Oh, and you guys are free to add on, Toz and Tug, for your things.
